The Meraki experience
The moment you enter Meraki, you’re taken care of. You can rely upon our passionate staff, the pristine water, and the unparalleled Meraki Float experience. Our flotation rooms are modern and spacious (2m in length & height), with a sleek design and comfortable interior, complete with private shower and changing room.
Zero gravity
Our float rooms are filled with approximately 25cm of water, saturated with over 500kg of high grade Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulphate). This high concentration of salt makes the water incredibly buoyant, enabling your body to float effortlessly. The sensation of reduced gravity alleviates all tension from your bones, joints, and muscles, promoting a profound sense of relaxation and pain relief.
In tune with you
The water is maintained at approximately 35 degrees Celsius, perfectly matching your skin temperature. This precise regulation makes it difficult for your body to distinguish which parts are in contact with the water, creating the sensation of floating in air. This seamless blend allows you to let go completely, facilitating deep relaxation and a profound sense of peace.
Free your mind
The float tanks are insulated, shielding you from distracting sounds. If you choose to keep the lights off, you are in complete darkness. This isolation from both light and sound significantly reduces external stimuli and distractions, allowing you to be truly alone with your thoughts. This environment facilitates a deep state of relaxation and introspection, providing a unique opportunity for profound rest and rejuvenation.
The science & benefits
of float therapy
Reduce stress & anxiety
Float therapy has been shown to significantly lower cortisol levels, which helps to reduce stress and anxiety. This practice promotes a deep sense of calm and relaxation. This has been particularly effective for individuals with severe anxiety disorders.
Relieve pain
The zero-gravity sensation in the float tank alleviates pressure on muscles and joints, providing immediate relief from pain and discomfort. It's particularly beneficial for individuals with arthritis and fibromyalgia, as it helps speed up recovery and reduce chronic pain symptoms.
Improve sleep quality
Regular float sessions help reset your body’s natural rhythms, leading to deeper, more restful sleep. The experience in the float tank is akin to REM sleep, promoting deep relaxation and mental rejuvenation.
Boost recovery & performance
Float therapy aids in faster post-workout recovery by significantly reducing lactic acid buildup in muscles. The combination of reduced gravity and magnesium absorption relaxes muscles, alleviating soreness, and promoting quicker healing.
Enhance mental clarity
The sensory deprivation environment of float therapy minimises external distractions, allowing the mind to explore new ideas and thoughts freely. This can lead to increased mental clarity and enhanced creative thinking.
Boost mood & well-being
Float therapy increases the production of endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals. This can elevate your mood and enhance overall mental well-being, providing a natural boost to happiness levels and help to combat depression.
Improve skin condition
The float tank solution is nearly 30% Epsom salt which makes it supersaturated in magnesium, which is important for skin health. Many clients dealing with dry skin or conditions like psoriasis and eczema report improvements in symptoms when adding floating into their routine.
Lower blood pressure
Regular float sessions help reduce blood pressure by inducing deep relaxation, which slows heart rate and improves circulation. The calming environment aids individuals in managing daily life pressures, reducing the strain on your cardiovascular system. Over time, this can contribute to improved heart health and overall well-being.
Enhance interception
Float therapy enhances awareness of your internal body sensations, helping you develop a healthier relationship with physiological cues like heartbeat and breath. This can lead to improved emotional regulation, providing a sense of control and balance even outside the tank.
Deeper meditation
The distraction-free environment of the float tank is ideal for practicing mindfulness and deep meditation. This setting helps achieve a heightened state of awareness and inner peace.
